Why a drop point

The default hunting and EDC shape, and the safest general answer. The spine curves down to the tip in a convex line, which keeps the point low and strong and leaves plenty of belly for skinning. It is hard to make a drop point bad at anything.

Is the saw on the Farmer X worth having?

It depends on use. One owner sold theirs because they hardly used the saw and prefer their Swiss Champ when they do, while another counts the saw among the tools that make it the right partner for their pliers. A shopper was pointed to the Pioneer X if scissors matter more than a saw.

Can I remove the openers from a Farmer X?

One owner removed both the can opener and the bottle opener because they never used them, keeping the awl alongside the blade, which they say fit together after the change. Asked whether the bottle opener could have taken the punch's place, they were not sure the parts were compatible.

Should I carry a Farmer X with pliers or just a Leatherman?
