Case Mini Trapper CS
Case's smaller trapper pattern carries a 2.7" clip blade and a full-length spey in chrome vanadium, which Case sells as carbon steel, on yellow synthetic scales. It closes to 3.5" and costs $64.99. The steel takes a fine edge quickly but needs oiling to keep rust off.

Why a clip point
The front third of the spine is 'clipped' away in a concave sweep, dropping the point below the spine line and putting it out in front. That makes a finer, more controllable tip than a drop point — better for piercing, slightly weaker under load. The Buck 110 pattern is the archetype.
Every clip point here →About Chrome Vanadium
Case's traditional carbon steel, sold alongside the same patterns in stainless Tru-Sharp. It is softer than modern powder steels by design: it dulls sooner and comes back on a stone in seconds, which is the trade traditional pocket knives have always made.
1-5 is a relative ranking drawn from published composition and hardness, not a lab measurement. Higher is better on every axis, and no steel is a 5 across the board — edge retention and toughness pull against each other. All Chrome Vanadium knives
